"If you're going to San Francisco?
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair....." Scott McKenzie
There was a wedding in San Francisco. I attended, having known the groom since he was born.
Such hopes for the future, optimism, dreams and plans, surrounded me, from all those young men and women.
I met a man, a few years older than me, who said he's lived his live with no regrets.
For a while, it felt like - we might be alright. Things might work out. The best possible of worlds, without end, amen.
But I forgot to wear flowers in my hair, to ward off this looming despair.
I can't find a source of optimism, inside or in this world. It still feels like a mundane apocalypse, devoid of supernatural purpose, is coming upon us.
When I was young, I believed things could change - that we could change the wrongs of the world, like war, poverty, injustice. But the change has consistently been for the worse.
Blessed be.

Technically, I'm not really a saint; in fact, I'm more of a free-thinking heretic and/or apostate. Nonetheless, I shall attempt to impart my thoughts and feelings about the state of humankind in the form of these ePistles to...well, whoever.
